Hazelton, PA – The Lackawanna College Women's Soccer team fell to PSU – Hazelton in a intercounty contest. The Lions outscored Lackawanna by a 4-2 score. PSU tallied the initial three goals of the game in the first half. In the second period, Lackawanna scored twice to narrow the Lions lead to one, before Hazelton scored late in the period to clinch the win.
The Falcons' first score came with 40:03 left in the second half on a breakaway goal by Alexa Smith. On this score, Rachael Apsley was credited with an assist. Those two players reversed roles for the second goal. Apsley scored, while Smith earned an assist.
The women's game scheduled for tomorrow against Penn State Lehigh Valley has been cancelled. As a result, their next match will be played at Newton, New Jersey when they take on Sussex County Community College. That contest will be played on Thursday, September 19th, at 4:00 PM.
