(Scranton, PA) – Lackawanna Softball took to the field at home on Saturday afternoon as they played a double-header against Mercer CC. The Lady Falcons lost game one 4-1 and lost game two 8-4. These losses dropped their record to 24-15.
Mercer CC started the scoring off in the top of the first on a 2-run homerun and then added another run in the next inning on an RBI double. Lackawanna only scored 1 run as Lauryn Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 5th. Mia Pawelski tagged up on 3rd to score. Mercer won game one 4-1. The losing pitcher was Mia Pawelski. She pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 earned runs.

The Lady Falcons struck early in the second game of the double-header. Colleen Cwalina smacked a 2-run homer to deep left field to put Lackawanna on the board first. Mercer answered back with 2 runs of their own in the top of the 2nd. Lauryn Rodriguez broke the tie in the bottom of the 2nd as she scored Amanda Mowry from 3rd on a sacrifice fly. Unfortunately for the Lady Falcons, they gave up 6 runs over the 4th and 5th innings. The last score for Lackawanna came in the bottom of the 4th on a Mia Pawelski solo homerun. Mercer went on to win 8-4. The losing pitcher was Marlena Pegula. She pitched 4.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and 1 earned run.
