(Myrtle Beach, SC) – The Lady Falcons played their final games of the 2019 Cal Ripken Experience on Saturday afternoon. They won against Monroe College 4-3 and split a double-header with John Wood CC (won 3-0 and lost 4-2). Lackawanna Softball's record sits at 9-6.
The first game of the day saw a closely contested game against Monroe College. The Lady Falcons started the 1st inning off with by scoring on a series of Monroe errors. Courtney Hoffman took advantage of 2 errors by the center fielder and 3rd baseman to hustle around the diamond for the score. The 2nd inning saw Gabrielle Vuocolo single to left field. She managed to bring home Lexis Chapman from 3rd base to make the score 2-0. The Lady Falcons scored another run in the top of the 5th but were immediately answered back by Monroe College as they scored 3 runs. The game was tied up at 3-3 when Lauryn Rodriguez grounded out to 3rd baseball, bringing home Vanessa Wolf from 3rd for the go ahead run. Mia Pawelski pitched all 7 innings for Lackawanna, striking out a whopping 11 batters for the win. Lady Falcons won 4-3.

Lackawanna provided more excellent pitching in game 1 of the John Wood CC double-header. Marlena Pegula pitched 7 innings, striking out 1 batter, and only giving up 4 hits for the win. Mia Pawelski hit a groundball for a RBI single to center field, scoring the runner from 2nd base in the top of the 1st. Pegula helped herself to an RBI in the top of the 3rd, hitting a line drive to right field. The final run for Lackawanna came in the top of the 4th as Mia Pawelski grounded out but the runner scored from 3rd. Lady Falcons win 3-0.

John Wood CC would get their revenge in game 2 of the double-header. The first score of the game happened in top of the 5th as John Wood CC scored on an error. The Lady Falcons made up for the run by scoring 2 in the bottom of the 6th. Jordan Skoff singled to left field as Gabrielle Vuocolo and Courtney Hoffman would score. John Wood CC put up 3 runs in the top of the 7th to snatch away the victory. John Wood CC wins 4-2.
