Lackawanna Claims Pennsylvania – Delaware Cup for Seventh Consecutive Year

High Bridge NJ -

High Bridge NJ - The Lackawanna College golf team claimed the Pennsylvania-Delaware Cup for the seventh consecutive year. The Falcons won the cup in a playoff after Bucks Community College and Lackawanna tied with a team score of 315.

Lackawanna College had high expectations heading into its final conference event of the season, but tough conditions and great play from Buck County Community College made their task a bit tougher; extra holes were needed for only the second time in ten years to decide the winner of the PA-Delaware Cup.

After the completion of play the two teams sent 5 golfers each down to the 10th hole for a sudden-death playoff. Pars by Dalton Coldwater, Jordan Smith, Kevin Karabin, and John Brundred sealed the victory for Lackawanna College.

Lackawanna College was led by Kevin Karabin who carded 76 and John Brundred who shot 77 on the day. Jordan Smith who was the lone golfer remaining on the course for the Falcons shot 78 getting the team into the playoff. Willis Davenport (85) and Dalton Coldwater (86) rounded out the scoring.

Medalist of the event was Steve Owens of Bucks who shot 71 on the day. Patrick Lloyd, coach of the Lackawanna College Falcons said of the event "it was a lot of fun, in tough conditions Bucks played terrific I wish them nothing but the best heading into Regionals."

Lackawanna entered yesterday's tournament ranked 10th in the Nike/Golf World NJCAA DII polls and 17th in the NJCAA Coaches Poll. The team finished the season undefeated in Region 19 with a record of 47-0 against EPAC and GSAC schools.
