Lackawanna Trio Commit to Clarion

Scranton, PA – Lackawanna College announced that three members of its men's Basketball team committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. The trio consists of forwards, Jonathan Williams and Stevan Rodriguez and point guard, Javontay Pipkin.

Jonathan Williams is a resident of Dunmore, Pennsylvania and graduate of Dunmore High School. A 6'7" forward, he was versatile scorer for Lackawanna as he put up 383 points this past season, with 96 coming from beyond the three-point line. Williams also made significant contributions on the boards as he grabbed 206 rebounds while blocking 25. As a big he recorded 30 assists and 24 steals. His two-year career totals at Lackawanna consisted of 665 points, 368 rebounds, 50 assists, 45 blocks and 45 steals.

Stevan Rodriguez is a resident of Reading, Pennsylvania and graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. A 6'5" forward, Rodriguez earned EPAC DII Player of the Year honors, First Team All-Region XIX DII laurels and Third Team NJCAA All-American recognition for his play during the 2017/2018 campaign. This past season, he was the team leader in points with 438 and rebounds with 267. He also had 33 blocks and 27 assists. In his career, he had a two-year total of 557 points, 364 rebounds 51 blocks and 34 assists.

Javontay Pipkin is a resident of Staten Island, New York and graduate of McKee High School. A 5'10" point guard, Pipkin led the Falcons in assists this past season with 199 and was second in steals with 47. He scored 218 points while grabbing 117 rebounds. In his two years at Lackawanna, Pipkin dished out 279 assists, recorded 62 steals, scored 321 points and grabbed 167 rebounds.

In commenting on the Lackawanna trio's decision to attend Clarion, Head Coach Brian Coyle said, "Congratulations to our three sophomores Jon Williams, Javontay Pipkin and Stevan Rodriguez on their commitment to Clarion University of Pennsylvania. It's great to see the three of them attending the same school next year. It shows you how much they enjoyed playing with each other and how strong their bond is as teammates.  Clarion University is getting three impressive student athletes with great work ethics. I wish them the best of luck in their future and I know they will be in great hands with Coach Williams."
