Ephraim UT: After being dropped from 8th place to 9th in the most recent NJCAA poll behind three teams with losses and after beating Wagner Junior Varsity 55-0, the Lackawanna College Football team traveled west to play #7 Snow College and to make a point. That point was that East Coast teams could play with anyone in the nation. The Falcons accomplished what they set out to prove by beating Snow 17-6.
Snow took the early lead in the first period, as they scored on two Jose Pizano field goals. However, that would be the last time that the Badgers would put points on the board, as the Falcons' defense played shutout ball the rest of the game.
In the second period, Lackawanna cut Snow's lead in half on a 26-yard field goal by Carmen Ceccotti with 3:16 left in the half.
With time running out in the third period, Gianni Gamble intercepted a Snow pass on the Badgers' 30 yard line. Three plays and thirty yards later the Falcons' Matt Cavallaro rushed for six yards and a Lackawanna Touchdown with 1:37 left in the period. A Ceccotti PAT gave Lackawanna a 10—6 lead that they would protect for the remainder of the game.
Both teams played solid defense in the fourth quarter. That changed with 21 seconds left in the game, as KeShaun Moore picked up a Snow fumble and returned it 51-yards for a score. Another Ceccotti point after gave the Falcons a 17-6 lead that clinched the win for Lackawanna.
Next Saturday, Lackawanna hosts ASA Miami in their season home opener. This game is the rescheduled home opener originally scheduled to be played in Myrtle Beach. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
