(Scranton, PA) – Lackawanna Baseball played NJCAA DIII #3 Northampton CC at home on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons won a close game, 7-6. This win increased their record to 18-13 (5-3).
The Falcons started off Thursday's game with 2 runs in the first inning. DJ Barry-Staszak drew a walk, stole 3rd, and then was knocked home by Ryan Cole on a fielder's choice. The second run came two batters later when Colin Weinert hit an RBI double to left field. Lackawanna gave back a run in the top of the 2nd but answered back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 2nd. Zac Granger hit an RBI triple down the left field line and Owen Kiess grounded out but earned an RBI. Northampton took the lead in the 6th inning after scoring 5 runs in 2 innings. Lackawanna regained the lead in the bottom of the 7th on back to back homeruns. Thylar Summarell blasted a homer to deep right and Colin Weinert homered to left field. The Falcons took a 7-6 lead and held onto it for the win. The winning pitcher was Nate Kitchell. He pitched 4.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 earned runs. He tossed 6 strikeouts as well.
