SCRANTON, Pa. – July 9, 2019 – Lackawanna College has hired Erik Larson as assistant athletic director. Larson previously worked at Carbondale Area High School as athletic director and trainer since 2004.
"I want to be a part of the process of growth at Lackawanna College," said Larson. "I enjoy the relationships I'm able to form in a new setting and I'm looking forward to the day-to-day challenges of working as an administrator. I'm very excited about the opportunities before me as I assist the athletic department."
At Carbondale Area, Larson regularly explored and added technology to the department to increase fan experience and assist coaches. He helped craft the school's Twitter and Instagram accounts as well as supervised its live-streaming platform on YouTube. Larson participated in several school fundraising activities and has worked with the Lackawanna Interscholastic Athletic Association (LIAA), which oversees 24 high schools. He served as LIAA's treasurer for over 10 years.
Larson graduated from Houghton College in 1997 with a B.S. in Athletic Training. He interned at Bloomsburg University and went on to work at Arlington Group Sports Medicine in 1998. During the same year, he worked for the Harrisburg Heat, a professional indoor soccer team. Larson was contracted as an athletic trainer by Carbondale Area High School in 2000.
