Women Win Season Final
At Scranton, Pennsylvania, Terika Turner and Christinia DiBartolomeo both celebrated their last home contest at Lackawanna in a big way. Turner scored twenty (20) points and registered fourteen (14) rebounds to score a double-double in her last regular season game as a Lady Falcon. DiBartolomeo recorded twenty (20) points as Lackawanna beat Manor College 73-72.
Other sophomores playing in their last game at the Lackawanna College Student Union also contributed to the Falcon Victory. Kayla Bailey scored seven (7) points, while also registering eight (8) assists and six rebounds. Megan Campbell ended the night with nine (9) points, six (6) rebounds and five (5) assists. Liza Gillette contributed three (3) rebounds. Freshman, Sabrina Coleman joined her older teammates by scoring seventeen (17)points.
The victory gives the Lady Falcons a final regular season record of eighteen (18) wins and five (5) losses. It also leaves them with a Region XIX Division II conference record of fifteen (15) wins and three losses. They are guaranteed the second seed and a bye into the Region XIX Division II Women's Basketball Tournament's semi-finals. The Falcons can take the first place seed if Burlington County College beats Union County College in a contest being played today. A loss by Union would guarantee a tie between the Owls and Lackawanna, with the Falcons winning on a tie breaker.
The Region XIX Tournament will be played at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, New Jersey. Lackawanna will play in the semi-final scheduled for March 2nd. The game time will be announced.
