Lackawanna Splits Twin Bill with Bergen CC

Lackawanna College split a Sunday afternoon doubleheader played Sunday at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ.

In the first game, after Bergen scored twice in the first inning, Lackawanna held the Bulldogs scoreless for the rest of the contest while they exploded for four runs in the 5th inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Falcons added three more in the 6th inning to add insurance in an 8-2 victory.

Ginely Ortiz-Marrero led the Lady Falcons at the plate with four hits including a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. In addition to Ortiz-Marrero, four other Falcons had multi-hit games as Janisie Simpkins had four hits with two runs scored. Arielle Parry went 2 for 4 with a run and RBI and Danielle Johnson 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Dannielle Barletti also added two hits.

Danielle Johnson was the winning pitcher limiting the Bulldogs to two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four.

In the second game, the Falcons fell to Bergen by a score of 12-4.

Simpkins stayed hot at the plate going 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored while Ashley Smith went 3 for 3 with a run scored.

Lackawanna travels to Salem Community College on Tuesday to play the Oaks in a Region twin bill
