Lackawanna Loses Twice to Raritan Valley in Offensive Shootout
Lackawanna College relinquished a 7-6 lead in the7th inning of the first game to fall to Raritan Valley CC by a score of 13-7.
Three Lady Falcons had multi-hit games in the opener. Ashley Smith and Ginely Ortiz-Marrero each had a 3 for 5 game with a double and run score. The only difference in their performances was the number of RBI's each contributed. Smith ended the contest with 1 while Ortiz-Marrero drove in 3. Dannielle Barletti went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's.
In the second game Raritan Valley CC scored 7 in the opening frame and expanded that lead to a 9-1 after their at bats in the 4th. From that point on the Falcons held the Lions to 2 runs over the remaining 3 innings as they scored 3 in the 4th and 5th inning and 2 in 6th to leave them with a two run deficit going into their 7th. The Lady Falcons loaded the bases in the 7th and scored a run with only 1 out in that frame. Unfortunately they were unable to drive in the tying score as their rally fell one run short in the 11-10 loss.
Five Falcons had at least two hits in the night cap. Alexis Quatrano had a perfect 4 for day with a triple, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Danielle Johnson, Dannille Barletti, Angelea Lockard and Maria Malanik all went two for four.
The Lady Falcons next plays at Sussex CC in a doubleheader scheduled for April 15, 2010 at Sussex.
