Lackawanna College Athletic Department to Hold Spring Sports Banquet
The Lackawanna College Athletic Department will hold its Spring Sports Banquet on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. The dinner will be held in the school's third-floor reception hall located in the College's Main Building at 501 Vine St., Scranton, PA. This celebrative meal will honor the achievements of its winter and spring intercollegiate teams. Team MVPs will be named for the men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and golf teams.
In addition, the athletic department will present the Margaret “Peg" Tobin Sportsmanship Award to the female and male student athlete who exemplify fair, generous and gracious conduct in victory or defeat, the Academic Award to the female and male student athlete who demonstrated educational excellence while participating in sports during their two years at Lackawanna College and the College's prestigious Sterling B. Seeley award which is given to the student athlete who demonstrates all-around abilities as a student and an athlete, as well as demonstrating an active involvement in the community.
This year, the department will be adding the Board of Trustees Student Athlete Academic Excellence Award. This award will go to the returning freshman athlete with the highest GPA
As part of the awards ceremony, both the Nashira Turner and Shedrick Haynes will receive their NJCAA All-American Awards.
