Men Guarantee Second Place Seed with Win
At Scranton Pennsylvania, the Lackawanna College Men's basketball team guaranteed themselves a second place seed in the upcoming Region XIX Men's Division II Tournament with a convincing 91-71 victory over Manor College. Clinching the second place seed became possible when the only team that could have tied the Falcons, Raritan Valley Community College, lost to Salem Community prior to the beginning of today's contest.
On a day which also honored the sophomores who would be playing their last home game at the student, five Falcons had double digit days. Ironically three of the five were the Falcons being honored. The sophomores putting up double numbers were DeAndre Albritton with a game high twenty (20) points, Antione Hackman with fifteen (15); and Javon White with Ten (10). The others scoring in double figures were Vincent Roux with fourteen (14) points and Shaquille Robinson with ten (10). DeVaughn Jones lead the team in rebounds with six, while Rouxlead in assists with seven (7).
With the win the men ended their season with an overall win/loss record of twelve (12) wins and thirteen (13) losses. However in Region XIX Division II they compiled eleven (11) wins and only five (5) losses. Having secured the second place seed, the men will not have to play again until March 1, 2012, when they play in the Region's Division II semi-final. That contest will be played at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, New Jersey, this year's host for the Region XIX Basketball Tournament. Game time for that contest will be announced.
