Haynes Commits to University of South Florida

What had been a verbal commitment became official on Wednesday as Lackawanna College guard Shedrick Haynes signed his NCAA National Letter of Intent to attend the University of South Florida.

Haynes attracted USF's interest with a season where he led the Falcons in scoring with 572 points, an average of 19.1 points per game, and also added 76 assists. Shedrick was also named to All Region XIX Division I / Division II First Team where he was the top voter getter of Division II participants. Haynes was then named an NJCAA Division II 2nd Team All-American.

Haynes, a nativet of East Bradenton, Florida made local history in his home town when he became the first person in Mantee County to to receive a basketball scholarship to play at the University of South Florida.

He believes that USF is a good fit for him both academically and athletically. Haynes believes he will see action soon since the South Florida has only one returning guard on a team that had a 2009-2010 win – loss record of 20 -13 and was invited to play in the National Invitational Tournament.

USF is a member of the Big East Conference.
