Lackawanna remains Unbeaten

Garden City, NY – Saturday afternoon, the NJCAA 10th ranked Lackawanna College football team traveled to Garden City to take on long time rival Nassau Community College. The Falcons scored the first two touchdowns of the game before Nassau bounced back to tie the game at 14-14 with 10:22 left in the first half. That would be as close as Nassau would get to challenging the Falcons, as Lackawanna went on a four-touchdown run to give them a 42-14 halftime lead.

SCORING:

Nasir Hooker started today's scoring with a 12-yard TD run with 11:42 left in the first period. That score was followed in the same quarter with a 9-yard pass by the Falcons' quarterback, Shane McLaughlin, to Jason Turner at the 9:40 mark.

Nassau responded to Lackawanna's early scores with the next two touchdowns. The first came with 2:57 left in the first quarter on a 7-yard touchdown pass and a 4-yard TD run at 10:22 in the second period.

It would be Nassau's last scores of the first half, as the Falcons answered with the next four scores. The first came on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Jael Negron. The score was set up when Harrison Dreher loss control of the ball on the Nassau 14 yard line after a 56-yard sprint and the subsequent scramble that forced the ball across the goal line.

The remaining scores in the half came on touchdown passes of 30 or more yards. The first two were scoring strikes of 42-yards by McLaughlin to Javon Turner and 30-yards from McLaughlin to Norval Black. The final scoring pass of 74 yards came on end around pass from wide receiver Harrison Dreher to Jael Negron with 36-seconds left in the half.

In the second half both teams added points to the scoreboard, as Nassau scored on 52 yard pass and a 9-yard run. The Falcons' scored when Ja'yir Brown returned a blocked extra point, after Nassau's initial touchdown of the second half, for 2-Points; and a 2-yard rush by Darius Brown in the final quarter.
