Glowinski Commits to West Virginia
The Football Program at Lackawanna College is honored to announce that its NJCAA All-American Lineman, Mark Glowinski, has verbally committed to the University of West Virginia. Glowinski chose the Mountaineers because he felt it was the best for him both academically and athletically. It also provided his family an opportunity to attend a majority of his games.
In discussing the decision, head coach, Mark Duda said that "This is a great situation for Mark. With his size (6'5, 295), athletic ability and tenacious never quit attitude, I know he will be a successful DI lineman in their system." Duda added, "I've only had one lineman in my years of coaching at Lackawanna, who may have been marginally better than Mark, and that lineman went on to win the Outland Trophy Award (Duda was making reference to former Lackawanna College lineman and present day Baltimore Ravens tackle, Bryant McKinnie)."Duda concluded that "with his size and versatility, West Virginia can use Mark at tackle, guard or center, although I personally see them using him at guard. Regardless of the position, I know he is going to see a lot of playing time."
A graduate of GAR high school and resident of Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, Glowinski was a two-year starter at Lackawanna where in addition to his All-American recognition; he was also named to the Northeast Football Conference 2011 All-Conference Team.
Glowinski was also offered scholarships by Kansas, Kansas State, Rutgers, Pitt, University of Cincinnati, University of Connecticut, South Carolina, East Carolina, University of South Florida and Arkansas.
In joining West Virginia, Glowinski will be playing for a team that was ranked 23rd in the final BCS rankings and beat Clemson 70-33 in the 2012 Orange Bowl. Previously a member of the Big East Conference, the Mountaineers will be joining the Big 12 Conference effective, July 1, 2012.
