Falcons Fall to Loser's Bracket with 11-10 loss to Pasco-Hernando

(Enid, OK) – The Lackawanna Falcons fell to Pasco-Hernando State College 11-10 in round 1 of the NJCAA DII World Series. Lackawanna will play tomorrow (5/26/19) at 11:00 am, and they will square off against the loser of Kellogg CC vs Northern Oklahoma-Enid. The Falcons still have an opportunity to win the World Series through the Loser's Bracket and fans can catch all the action on NJCAATV.com.

Pasco-Hernando started off the day's scoring in the bottom of the 1st with a double by R. Ayrey. Two batters later, Nathan McLain gave up a 2-run single to right field. Pasco-Hernando led 3-0. Colin Weinert helped the Falcons get a run back in the top of the 2nd as he doubled to left, driving in Thylar Summarell. Lackawanna made a push for the lead in the 4th. Ryan Cole hit a single for an RBI to left and Zac Granger singled to right driving in 2 runs to take a 4-3 lead. Three batters later, David Williams hit a sac-fly to center to extend the lead to 5-3. The Falcons would end up hanging 6 runs on Pasco-Hernando after Ian Diaz hit a 2-RBI triple to the corner in right field. Falcons lead 7-3.

Pasco-Hernando responded in the bottom of the 4th with 5 runs. Pasco-Hernando then added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th as a hard hit grounder ate up Thylar Summarell for an error. Lackawanna's bats went silent till the 9th inning as they looked to stage a comeback. Collin Weinert singled on a hard ground ball to left to bring home Carson Zuber. Ian Diaz brought the score to 11-9 with a sac-fly and Owen Kiess made it 11-10 on a ground out for an RBI. DJ Barry-Staszak came to the plate with a runner on 3rd but ultimately flew out to center to end the ball game. Pasco-Hernando won 11-10.
