Wilson Slams 4 Home Runs in Double Header Split
Lackawanna split its Sunday doubleheader with Monroe College beating the Mustangs 15-6 in the opener, only to fall in the nightcap by a score of 10-6. However the game results were secondary to the hitting exploits of Jon Wilson.
Wilson entered the contest having hit three home runs this season. In his first at bat, he quickly added his fourth. In his third plate appearances of the first game, he slammed another four-bagger. Leading off for the Falcons in the second game, he went deep for his third home run of the day, and in his next appearance, he added his fourth. In the double header, he went 5 for 7. In the field Wilson made a diving catch along the left field foul line that he turned into a double play. The catch was all the more amazing since he had to hustle from his shortstop position to make the catch, a true web gem.
In game one, Eric Hink rivaled Wilson's performance at the plate. Hink hit two home runs, the second being an exciting in the park four bagger. He also added a double and had 4 RBIs. Rob Lessig ended the scoring in this contest with his second home run of the season, a drive just inside the right field foul pole.
Steve Aniska recorded his first win of the year in a complete game pitching effort.
In game two, Matt Accardi slammed his 8th homer of the season in the losing effort. Nick DeFabo took the loss.
