Falcons Rally from 5 Run Deficit for Region XIX Victory

Losing 5-0 going into the bottom of the second inning, the prospect of a Lackawanna College victory looked as dreary as the gathering storm clouds. A Matt Frei double and back to back home runs by Steve Aniska and Sam Parente had the Falcons thinking comeback, 11 more hitters and 8 more runs in the inning had them thinking “Region Win” From that leadoff double, Lackawanna scored 21 runs in three innings to claim a 21-5 victory in a rain shortened 5 inning game played at County Field, Moscow, Pennsylvania.

The Falcons had seven players with a multi hit game. Four players had home runs, three of those four having multi home run games. Having outstanding days were Matt Frei who was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, 2 RBI's and 4 runs scored; Matt Accardi who had a 2 for 3 game with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored and 6 RBI's; and Sam Parente who had 4 hits in 4 at bats including 2 hime runs, 3 runs scored and 4 RBI's. Steve Aniska, whose two run home run started the scoring in the 2nd, had a 1 for 2 day but scored 3 runs as he found himself on base after being hit by pitch on two separate occasions.

Don Winnie, gave up 5 runs in the 1st but held the Skylanders to no runs over the remaining 4 innings to record a win and improve his record to 4-1.

The win improves their overall record to 29-6 and their Region record to 7-2

The second game of this scheduled Region XIX twin bill was postponed due to rain. A makeup date for this contest has not been announced.
