In the spring of 2018, Lackawanna College hired Edward Delaney as its eSports Program Administrator and Head Coach. A new and exciting program that will be competing in its first season at Lackawanna College in the fall of 2018.
Delaney was born and raised in Harvey's Lake PA, where he currently resides with his fiancé and two children. Delaney attended Lake-Lehman High School where over the course of four years, he participated in basketball, cross-country, track and field, swimming and lettered in varsity soccer his senior year.
Aside from athletics, Delaney was always very interested and active with video games. Initially, it started with competing against his younger brothers and eventually moved on to a slightly more competitive environment, with participation in amateur tournaments in Northeast Pennsylvania; some of which, his classmates at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus organized.
Over the past several years, Delaney has been following professional eSports through Twitch and other online streaming platforms, where he soon discovered that eSports was beginning to make a presence on the collegiate stage as well.
At the beginning of 2018, Lackawanna College hired Delaney as a consultant to begin researching and developing a plan to build and implement an eSports Program. Within a few months, the program caught the attention of some key players at Lackawanna College and was announced to the public on April 17th. By the end of the summer of 2018, the college will be on the cutting edge of the collegiate eSports competition by renovating a state-of-the-art facility to house some of the most high-end gaming PCs available today.
Delaney hopes to put together several different teams for three different eSports official games. Is primary goal is to continue to grow this program and carry it to success over the coming years.
